Merry Christmas

We are so blessed to be celebrating Christmas in our new home. We are also very happy that David could be here with us. Steve's mom did not think she was up to flying to Tennessee and she spent Christmas with Aunt Sally and Uncle Otto.
When we woke up on Christmas Eve tiny snowflakes were falling. But it was not much and they were not sticking. But eventually the snowflakes got a little bigger and we got enough snow for the kids to throw a few snowballs and ride the sled down hill a couple of times.
We made a traditional Czech meal on Christmas Eve (well, at least what was considered traditional in my family). We had breaded chicken (rizek) and a potato salad. We had dinner early so that the kids could open presents in the afternoon. We made arrangements for Kat's mom to be on Skype to watch kids open presents. It was very nice to be able to do that and see the kids' (especially Hannah's excitement). Steve's mom joined us on Skype later and watched the kids do target practice with their new bows and arrows.
This was also the first time we gave the kids money to buy each other a Christmas present and also for us. It was very cute that they had the hardest time keeping a secret. But they were excited to wrap the presents and then watch them being opened.

Stevie and Hannah are contemplating what is under the tree

What could it be???

Over night Santa delivered a few more presents

On Christmas day the kids came to our bed before opening any presents. Hannah came over in the middle of the night and was too sleepy to notice Santa's delivery. Stevie got up in the morning, inspected the gifts and then came to our bed. When we asked him if there was anything from Santa under the tree, he told Hannah that she got a bicycle. We got up then and the kids opened their presents.
After we opened presents, I got our holiday meal started. We had our traditional roasted turkey, cornbread dressing, giblet gravy and mixed vegetables. After our holiday meal, we went outside to test out Stevie's new fourwheeler.
