Doksy where Kat Grew Up

   We went back to Doksy to visit old friends. We talked my mom into going with us and we all managed to get into the car. Steve drove today. We spent all afternoon outside in the garden. Mom cannot get in the house (they have too many stairs) but when it started raining we just moved into a covered area outside. 

   We got to see mom’s friend Mrs and Mr Drahos, their daughter Renata, her husband Pepa, their son Rene and his wife Iveta and their daughter Zaneta. We had a really nice afternoon. Pepa found a couple of old scooters their kids used when they were little. Stevie and Hannah figured out how to use them right away and loved them. They let us take them back with us to use while we are here. 

   We also got to go inside our old house. The new owners used to live just down to street. Mom could not get inside so we took pictures for her. The ground floor is still very much like it used to be but they added a bathroom (my grandparents used to take their baths in an outbuilding). They have done quite a bit of work upstairs and added several rooms. They turned the attic into 3 room and added one more where the toilet and pantry used to be. They completely removed the tiny kitchen that was there and turned the large dining room into a dine-in kitchen. It is so great to see that they are proud of their home and take great care of it. 

   The original house only had 2 rooms and was built (probably) in the early 1900s. My mom and her brother were born there. Some time in late 1940s my grandparents added another room. Some of the original stone walls are still on the first floor. When mom got married, they added another floor.
