Innsbruck, Austria

   April 16, 2014

We woke up before 7 AM as we all went to bed early. At 8, we made our way down for breakfast. Wow, what a pleasant surprise! The best breakfast hands down – even compared to the breakfast on the ship. We had a selection of deli meats, delicious cheeses, cheese spreads, rolls and bread, teas, coffee (freshly ground for each cup), cereal, hard boiled eggs, jams, meat spreads, etc. And it was included in the price of our hotel room (which was 115 euros – good price for this area).
After breakfast we took a 45 minute walk around town in the cool mountain air (it was about 45 degrees). We did not make it very far and did not see much but it was nice to get outside. So far, this has been the most pleasant stop on this phase of the trip.

We checked out at 11 AM and the hotel called us a taxi. We took it to train station and stopped in a supermarket deli for lunch. We got ½ chicken, some chicken wings and a sandwich along with bottled water and some type of an orange juice soda. It was relatively inexpensive (7.50 Euros) compared to what we have eaten so far. We also got fruit, nuts, drinks and deli meat from the supermarket to take on the train with us.

We made it to the platform 20 minutes early and to our surprise the train was already there. We also came up the escalator right in front of our car. It was nice to get in without having to rush and plenty of space in the luggage storage areas.
We are on the train now. It is moving along at speeds of 150 to 200 km/h. We stop in Salzburg (Mozart’s birthplace) and then go onto Linz.
