663 miles

On Tuesday morning (October 1), we ate breakfast at the hotel and finally got on the road at 10 AM. We knew this would be a long day but did not want to stress about rushing in the morning.
We got back on I-95 and were slowly working our way north. Once we crossed into South Carolina, the road was bumpy and full of potholes. One bump was so big, it caused the trailer tire to rub against the metal and it started smoking. We pulled over to check it but luckily it was just a momentary issue. Either way, the road was really hard on the trailer and the truck. But today we felt better. We were more rested, there was not a cloud in the sky and we were feeling hopeful. I guess this is how I expected to feel from the start.
Going 45-50 mph, we eventually got on I-26 west. This road took us through South Carolina, North Carolina and all the way to our hotel. I-26 was much smoother to drive on too. Crossing the Appalachians was amazing albeit very hard on the truck. The uphills were long and slow and Steve said that on the way down hill he felt like he was trying to drive a runaway train. But in the end we made it.
We arrived in Johnson City at the Value Place around 9 PM. Our 663 mile journey is over. It was absolutely awesome to be here and huge relief too. We were both glad that the truck and trailer made it all the way. We checked into the hotel.
We did not really like the hotel. The beds were pretty uncomfortable and it just was not much to brag about. But at the moment it was a place to sleep and sleep was what we needed.
I have to add that Hannah and Stevie were absolutely awesome during the two long driving days. We could not have asked for better travelling kids. Stevie rode with Daddy in the truck and Hannah kept me company in the car. We talked, we laughed, Hannah watched her movies and Stevie played his Kindle games.
